Ice Glow
Mansfield Hollow, Mansfield CT.
On this December morning, I was hoping for a clear sky and some ice on Mansfield Hollow lake to photograph the colorful reflection off the ice, as the sun started to dawn. While the morning was somewhat overcast and didn't seem clear enough to get what I was hoping for, one thing I've learned in photography is not to be disappointed if conditions are not "just what you were hoping for", as the beauty of creation is found in any conditions and can surprise you within seconds. As I kept warm in the cold December air and photographed a number of views in front of me, before long the sky opened up enough to let me see color, with beautiful clouds and the radiance of it reflecting off the ice. It's just another example of how we can miss the beauty before us if we are only looking for certain scenes that our mind has preconceived, and instead stay home...
